17/11/2011 A Doll's House
In this lesson, me and my partner began by hot-seating each other. In character as Helmer, I tried to answer all the questions given to me by my partner in a way that would conform to all the character traits we discussed in our Berkoff lesson. I tried to convince myself I was proud, sexist, possessive, hard-working, patronising and worrying. I believe that this exercise has helped me internalise the character of Helmer. I found that in rehearsals this helped me believe that I was Helmer and was being left by Nora. We spent the rest of the lesson rehearsing. I had learnt around a page and a half of lines so far. By next lesson, I hope to have learned a few more.
